The Dream Stream

Dream Stream is a segment of the So. Platte River. It contains some of highest concentrations of trout of any river in Colorado. So, it's a good place to fish!

It is located in the middle of a high plain (high desert) with not a tree to be seen. Due to its openness, the wind can howl, and it does, constantly. The weather can also change quickly since it is surrounded by mountain peaks.

And it's only 75 minutes from the house.

This day we got there and it was quite overcast. In fact, it was a little moist from the wind blowing far off rain our way. But the weather was in the west, and we would be fishing in the east. We took rain gear and were constantly scanning the skies.

This shot of Alicia was only a few minutes before the wind seriously picked up. That kind of wind suggests only one thing: RUN to the CAR!

No need to be worried at this point, it looks fine!

This is what we were looking at and watching develop. At this time it was not moving. You can almost see the sun on the grass from here.

It was obviously raining "over there"

Yup raining. Keep fishing, no worries -- YET  but the clouds are getting "lumpy" - not a good sign.

Looking the "other way" -- nice huh?

See how the clouds have become more solid gray? Not a good sign.
Then the wind, really strong.... RUN!!
Well, we did walk really quickly to the car, got there, stowed our gear and it started to POUR. We made it by 3-4 minutes.
